over the hill Wildlife Photography Guide

Published · Updated

over the hill includes a 27-species wildlife compendium. Use the in-game camera to photograph each species, then track which animals remain by rarity and area. The first photo of a species provides Pebbles according to its rarity tier.

Rarity rewards

Rarity First photo reward
Common 10-20 Pebbles
Uncommon 20 Pebbles
Rare 50 Pebbles
Legendary 100 Pebbles

Completing a region's wildlife compendium supports the Naturalist achievement, but the achievement itself provides no additional Pebbles or items.

Species by rarity

Common species include Barbary Sheep (Aoudad), Bighorn Sheep, Canada Goose, Common Raven, Desert Sparrow, Dorcas Gazelle, Elk, Flamingo, Mountain Goat, Mule Deer and Red Fox. Bighorn Sheep is the common entry listed at 20 Pebbles; the other common entries in the source list are shown at 10 Pebbles.

Uncommon species are Bald Eagle, Beaver, Coyote, Dromedary Camel, Fennec Fox, Gray Wolf, Jackal, Kokanee Salmon, Lanner Falcon and Moose. Rare species are Black Bear, Egyptian Vulture, Grizzly Bear and Striped Hyena. Saharan Cheetah and Sasquatch are the legendary entries.

Where to look

Canadian species are concentrated across Emerald Lake, Gimli Ridge and Asgard Mountain. Kokanee Salmon, Beaver, Gray Wolf and Moose are tied to wetter or forested areas, while Mountain Goat, Bighorn Sheep and Grizzly Bear appear in mountain maps.

Algerian species include Desert Sparrow, Dorcas Gazelle, Flamingo, Barbary Sheep, Dromedary Camel, Fennec Fox, Jackal, Lanner Falcon, Egyptian Vulture, Striped Hyena and Saharan Cheetah. Tassili n'Ajjer Desert is especially important for desert species, while Aurès Mountains adds its own mountain-area sightings.

Photography workflow

Drive to an area where several target species overlap, keep movements smooth, and avoid turning a photo trip into a high-speed route. If the target species does not appear, use the time to visit a nearby cabin, scenic point or crate instead of retracing the same path immediately.

Exact habitat windows, weather preferences and active-hour behavior are not published in this guide until they can be verified directly. For now, a practical workflow is to use rarity and area overlap to plan the route, then photograph whatever appears along a natural trail.
